Essex Village Pub named Pub of the Year in Greene King Excellence Awards

The Five Bells pub in Colne Engaine on the edge of the beautiful Colne Valley is celebrating today after being named Pub of the Year in Greene King Free Trade Excellence Awards 2006 Now in its forth year, the awards scheme was launched by Greene King Brewing Company to recognise and commend customers operating independent Pubs and clubs for their success and business excellence.

The Five Bells had already been named Pub of the Year for the South Anglia region during the regional stage of the competition, and has been crown overall winner in the UK national Final.

The Pub of the year award is a hotly contested category specifically aimed at contenders running first class pubs with widespread customer appeal. It rewards pub operators that have gone the extra mile for their customers and that demonstrate the commitment, passion and drive necessary for running a successful pub business.

Commenting on the success of The Five bells Joe Parks Free Trade Sales Director, Greene King Brewing Company said:

Caroline & Darran Lingley owners of the Five Bells collected their award at a Ceremony in Cyprus held by Greene King this week they also collected a cheque for £5000 for the overall Greene King Business of the Year 2006.
